Dr. Bates was born in
Florence SC. He received his BS degree from USC and his MD from MUSC. He
completed his residency in Family Medicine and has been practicing in the
Charleston area for the past 30 years. Dr. Bates was certified by the American
Academy of Family Physicians in 1977. He is a Colonel in the Medical Corps of
the US Army and served two tours of active duty in Operation Desert Storm and
most recently in Operation Enduring Freedom. Dr. Bates is married and has three
children.
